Create a festive dessert wreath using fruit from your Wonky Box and a few Christmas treats you're likely to have on hand.  In our version below we've used a mix of summer stonefruit, blueberries and cherries - but you can use whichever of your favourite seasonal fruits are filling your fruit bowl. Strawberries, raspberries, or even mango or melon could be added if you have them!

Serve this gorgeous and simple fruit dessert with lemon curd, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, or plain Greek yogurt for a show-stopping centerpiece.

INGREDIENTS:

This is a flexible recipe, where you can use any fruit you have on hand. We've used a mixture of:

  • Oranges (2-3)
  • Cherries (1 punnet)
  • Nectarines (2-4 depending on size)
  • Plums (2-4 depending on size)
  • Blueberries (1 punnet)
  • Apricots (2-4 depending on size)

Other bits & bobs:

  • Chocolate wafers
  • Macaroons (or you could use mini meringues)
  • Festive sweets
  • Chocolate sauce
  • Lemon curd
  • Whipped cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • Fresh mint or rosemary for a festive garnish

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Set Up the Base: Use a large round plate or board as your base. For a neat wreath shape, place a bowl in the centre as a guide.
  2. Arrange the Fruit: Cut the oranges in half, then slice jagged edges on top for a decorative look. Place these around the wreath as a base layer. Slice the plums and nectarines into wedges (include smaller wedges to fill gaps). Arrange them around the board, leaving space for the dips.
  3. Add the Sauces: Fill three small bowls with lemon curd, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream or yogurt. Place these bowls evenly around the wreath for balance
  4. Decorate: Add macaroons, chocolate wafers, and festive sweets between the fruit. Fill any gaps with cherries and blueberries for bursts of colour.
  5. Garnish: Finish with sprigs of fresh mint or rosemary to give the wreath a festive touch.
